Why we learn moral & civic ed?
I was on the train recently and was surprised by Singaporean's response to give up their seats for the needy. A pregnant lady carrying her (probably) a year-old son entered, maneuvered her way to an available pole. Please, the bump was obvious. It was not the case which you need to think twice, whether she is just fat. No one gave up their seats until two stops later. Talk about gracious society.
Most of the time that I encountered, are the women that gave up the seats. Of course, there is the minority of guys. Just that, it's hard finding gentlemen around. Even in expo, when I'm carrying Qpoles or barricades, sigh... maybe I don't seem to be a damsel in distress...
Do you know that in Bangkok, there are labels on the trains: "Give up seats for monks".
